INGENIUM Engineer's Representative & Contractor's Representative seminar
Start Date:14 Feb 2012Finish Date:7 Nov 2012
Synopsis
INGENIUM's two-day seminar on "Engineer's Representative and Contractor's Representative" provides attendees with important information and skills for contractual aspects of construction projects, with a particular focus on the NZ Standard 3910 'Conditions of Contract for Building and Civil Engineering Construction'.
This seminar is a vital starting point for those with responsibilities in the management of such projects, representing either the Contractor or the Principal's advisers. During the past 3 years, the seminar has run some 13 times at various centres, attended by more than 360 people from 80 separate organisations.
The seminar includes shortlecture sessions, punctuated by hands-on exercises during which all particpants work in informal teams to solve problems that are based on situations occuring in actual projects. A booklet of comprehensive notes and background reference material is provided to participants for their future reference.
Topics covered include types of contract, documentation, tender processes, overview of NZS 3910, roles of Contractor's Representative and Engineer's Representative, quality management, construction risks, health and safety, subcontracts, variations, extensions of time, payments and the impact of the Construction Contracts Act, claims and responses. A multi-choice quiz ends the seminar.
Participants should bring with them a copy of NZS 3910 for their reference (available from Standards NZ, Private Bag 2439, Wellington 6020, phone 04 498 5990 , web site, www.standards.co.nz). If this presents difficulty, a limited number of loan copies may be available at the seminar.
Having completed this seminar, participants may later wish to attend the INGENIUM 'Engineer to the Contract' seminar which deals with advanced topics in more depth.
"This seminar is accepted by the NZTA as part of the accreditation process for those in the role of Engineers Representative on NZTA's Highway and Network Operations projects".
