What can INGENIUM do for me?
INGENIUM Will...
Keep you in touch with the latest developments in public asset engineering and management through:
- Regular branch meetings and an annual conference at which practical solutions to common problems are presented and discussed.
- Networking. INGENIUM can help you get to know others in similar fields of work.
- A newsletter published every second month (INGENIUM@Work) containing snippets on a range of engineering issues. These are free to INGENIUM members.
- Continuing education. INGENIUM runs seminars targeting educational topics of benefit to you.
- Contact with other organisations such as IPWEA (Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia), APWA (American Public Works Association), LGNZ, SOLGM, IPENZ, Water NZ, ACENZ, etc.
Help you by helping our industry through:
- Support and advice to the LGNZ, Standards NZ, NZTA and many other government agencies and other organisations on such matters as legislation, central government policy, national standards, etc.
- Development of national (and international) manuals for infrastructure engineering and management such as the International Infrastructure Management Manual, Asset Valuation and Depreciation Guidelines, etc.
What is Ingenium?
Ingenium Is...
An incorporated society that exists primarily to uphold and improve the status of engineering and management of public assets in New Zealand. It aspires to this through a number of objectives written into its constitution.
Membership is open to persons in the service of or, having served local government or provided public asset engineering and/or management services in New Zealand. Ingenium has over 890 members as at 1 April 2009.
INGENIUM has five branches (see Branches pages of this website) which generally meet three monthly. Activities centre on training and education and exchanges of information and ideas.
The branches report to a national board which is elected each year by a secret ballot of INGENIUM members. The national board comprises - a president, the five branch chairpersons and six other members elected at large (one of the Board members is elected as Vice President). A Chief Executive provides the board with administrative support.
The board is a dedicated and experienced group well regarded in our industry and are in a very good position to lead and advise on matters relevant to public asset engineering and management.
INGENIUM utilises a two monthly newsletter, Email and this web site to provide ongoing communication between the board, branches and members.
