Study Tour

The INGENIUM 3-day study tour to Victoria will take place over the period 2-4 September 2009 and will visit cities and shires in and around Melbourne.

The IPWEA National Conference (which is combined with the International Federation of Municipal Engineering World Congress) is to be held in Melbourne over the period 6-10 September 2009, and so study tour delegates have the opportunity to attend this conference after the study tour.

The study tour has been arranged jointly with IPWEAQ. [IPWEAQ is the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia, Queensland Division.] A total of 20 places will be available on the tour, with 10 places allocated to INGENIUM and 10 places allocated to IPWEAQ. This adds another dimension to the tour as it provides the opportunity for networking between the delegates from Queensland and New Zealand.

The host councils for the visits, along with planned topics, are:

Wyndham City Council [Wed 2 Sept, full day] – Managing growth, asset management, strategic planning, long term financial planning, capital works delivery, community and recreation infrastructure, city presentation standards, public art and environmental sustainability.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Council [Thurs 3 Sept, full day] -
Alliance contracts for road network management and infrastructure maintenance; water capture and reuse systems.

Baw Baw Shire Council [Fri 4 Sept, AM] -
Community involvement, sustainability in practice, innovative procurement, and managing the skills shortage.

Manningham City Council [Fri 4 Sept, PM] -
